Norman Vaughan-Birch
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Norman Vaughan-Birch moved with his parents to Coral Gables, Florida in 1950. He has been a resident of Sarasota for over 56 years.
Graduating from the University of Florida in 1964 and later from Stetson University College of Law in 1969 he began his practice of law as a litigator. He was a shareholder in the firm of Kirk, Pinkerton, the oldest law firm in Sarasota, and was the managing partner of the firm for many years.
He was Board Certified by the Florida Bar as both an expert in Civil Litigation and Business Law Litigation. The Supreme Court of Florida certified him as a civil circuit mediator. After serving in various roles in the Florida Bar for 50 years including as a member of the Florida Bar Board of Governors, he retired in 2021.
Throughout his career he participated in the Sarasota community through service in many local organizations including Mote Marine Laboratory where he has been a Council member for over 35 years.
Married to his wife, Tommy, for over 60 years he had two children, Jill and Cody. They resided for over 50 years on Siesta Key before moving to a condominium in 2023 where presently he serves president of his association.
Both he and his wife, Tommy, have cherished the Sarasota community and recognize the many benefits they have received over the years. They are committed to contributing to the betterment of Sarasota by investing time and effort into making this the wonderful city it is.
