About the Second Heart Program

We have 13 homes across Sarasota and Manatee counties that serve 80 adults needing housing and stability. We serve single adults experiencing homelessness that want to change their circumstances and become independent but need a little help.
Our residents must have a commitment to addressing and managing their mental health and working towards short and long-term goals.
Our residents must also be able to take care of their activities of daily living related to dressing, bathing, preparing food, taking their medications. We are not a medical facility, a group home, an ALF, or a boarding house. We are a home for people who would otherwise be homeless and need our support to maintain their stability.
Without our organization, those we serve would certainly be on the street, using crisis medical care, unemployed, and cycling through institutions, while costing taxpayers significant funds without reprieve. Our program gives hope, stability, compassion, accountability and of course, housing and love.
